Welcome to Heartwood Seeds.

We sense you are here because, like us, you have the desire to grow and nurture all things unusual — and we hope your wishes are fulfilled from your visit!

We, at Heartwood, are a family-run business located within the middle of beautiful Cornish countryside — and only a stone's throw from its spectacularly beautiful coastline.

We have an ever-increasing, ever-changing, selection of seeds available on sale — and some of our seeds are so rare that we have been the only European supplier for many years.  We often have recently discovered species, entirely new to cultivation.

We carefully select estates from across the globe to supply our seeds and are extremely scrupulous in our selection policy; only the very best quality of seed has ever been good enough for us.  We also carry out monthly tests on the germinability of our seed stock, making sure germination rates remain good enough for sale.

We not only have an extensive know-how of growing (devising our own germination methods for our seeds) but we also have a great deal of experience supplying seeds to a wide range of customers and clients, sending over 125,000 packs / approximately 5.5 million seeds, across the world in less than a decade (The Botanical Rarity Shop is also owned by us).

Part-owner and founder of Heartwood, Jamie, has had a deeply-rooted connection with plants from a very young age.  Starting to grow plants at the age of five, he became fascinated (obsessed) with the native flora of the British Isles — particularly the 56 native species of orchids, which were hunted down and photographed during his late teens and early 20s.

After being on course to become a Biochemist, Jamie discovered his path in life needed to be engulfed by plants and not within a lab!  After this, he did spend a year working at the famous Duchy of Cornwall Micropropagation laboratory whilst undertaking an Honours Project and Thesis on Chimeral Genetics for his Plant Science (BSc) Degree — and although thoroughly enjoying the experience, one year in a lab was more than enough!

We, like others, have a very strong feeling that the process of growing plants and gardening can heal any mind or soul.  We hope you find something special here and wish you all the very best on your journey of growing!

Very best wishes from Jamie and Karyn at Heartwood!
