Schefflera arboricola (Dwarf Umbrella Tree) |
Fresh Seeds of Schefflera arboricola (Dwarf Umbrella Tree) with full instructions for germination.
An evergreen shrub, native to Taiwan, growing to under 12 ft in height within temperate Europe (25 ft in within open ground in the tropics) but much smaller when kept in a pot or grown as a houseplant (under 5-6 ft).
Beautiful, palmate leaves, held in little clumps of fan-like foliage, forming a small tree with a charming shape. Perfect as a houseplant, they also are great for purifying the air within a house.
Makes an excellent bonsai tree as the roots are very shallow and it is easily dwarfed.
Marginally frost-hardy, where it will survive occasional light frosts (-1°C) without much noticeable change; but approaching -5°C they will most certainly start to 'sulk' and may actually die. Many people will even have them recover fully after this during spring, but obviously offering protection during frosts is advised should they be grown outdoors.
Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack.

GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS |
Schefflera arboricola 🌱 Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours. Sow seeds 1cm deep within propagation compost. Keep compost evenly moist at all times at 25-30°C (77-86°F). A heated propagator is ideal. Non-heated propagators can be placed within direct sunlight in a warm room to trap in heat and humidity. Approx. germination time is from 2-3 months — but some may take longer (approx. 6 months) due to the biological clock of seed dormancy within most tropical seeds.
Caution: Not for consumption. Choking hazard. Keep away from children & pets. Handle with care.
