A unique annual, native to south-eastern and south-central United States, growing to around 2-3 ft in height with beautiful ‘Mexican hat-shaped’ flowers sit atop oblong to ovate, stem-clasping leaves from late summer to early autumn.

The charming, solitary, drooping flowers borne from July to October, are composed of deep-yellow ray florets, often bearing orange, red or purple bases, which surround large dark-brown central discs.  A magnet for attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies!

Rudbeckia amplexicaulis is an excellent choice for gardeners looking to add some height and vibrant colour to planting schemes.  Magnificent plants for flower borders, wildflower gardens, prairie-style meadows, cottage-style gardens.

Rudbeckia amplexicaulis 🌱 Surface sow on propagation compost and cover with a thin layer of fine compost (around 1mm). Fine-mist spray with clean water daily to keep compost evenly moist and keep at 21°C (70°F). A heated propagator is ideal. Non-heated propagators can be placed within direct sunlight in a warm room to trap in heat and humidity. Approx. germination time: from 20-80 days onwards.
