Paulownia fortunei - (Fortune's Empress Tree) |
Native to China and Taiwan; a fast-growing deciduous tree — but not quite as fast as Paulownia tomentosa
The architectural and exotic-looking large leaves form a rounded, to broadly columnar-shaped tree, growing to around 8 m (25 feet) tall. Many gardeners cut back the tree to ground level at the end of each year, to keep under 2m in height, using the exotic-looking large leaves to great effect within a pot or amongst a border
In late spring, the whole tree is covered with large lavender-purple to white fragrant flowers, possessing purple-spotted cream insides. Paulownia fortunei flowers more quickly from seed than any other Paulownia species — usually within first 3 years
Full hardy to -15°C (5°F)
Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack
