Osteospermum ecklonis (African Daisy / Cape Marguerite)

 

Fresh seeds of Osteospermum ecklonis (African Daisy / Cape Marguerite) with full instructions for germination.

An evergreen perennial native to South Africa, growing to a size of approximately 100 cm x 100 cm, with lance-shaped, serrated, grey-green, fragrant foliage.

Spectacular flowers, consisting of dark blue central disc florets, surrounded by bright ray florets, varying in colour from bright pink-tinted white to rose-pink, and from lilac to lavender purple. 

These are produced over a long flowering period from summer to early autumn (May to September).

Highly attractive to bees and other pollinators.

Fully Hardy to -5°C.

 GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS






 


Osteospermum ecklonis 🌱 Sow seeds 1cm deep within propagation compost. Keep compost evenly moist at all times at 21-25°C (70-77°F). A heated propagator is ideal. Non-heated propagators can be placed within direct sunlight in a warm room to trap in heat and humidity. Once seedlings reach 3 cm in diameter, pot in to 3-inch pots. Approx. germination time: from 30-60 days onwards.
