Lupinus succulentus (Arroyo Lupine / Annual Succulent Lupine)

Fresh seeds of Lupinus succulentus (Arroyo Lupine / Annual Succulent Lupine).

The Arroyo Lupine is a tall, fleshy annual herb, native to California, growing to around 2-4 ft in height and possessing dense spikes of beautiful sweetly fragrant, pea-shaped flowers borne above its lush, palmate foliage during spring to summer.

Flowers are produced during April to May (sometimes blooming for longer), made up of a raceme inflorescence in a series of whorls of 1-2 cm flowers, usually in deep purple-blue with a small white banner, but on occasion they will produce a few flowers in shades of light-purple, pink and white.

The flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies and they will readily self-seed for a future generation of plants. They are also considered the most water-tolerant of all Lupinus species.

As a very ornamental plant, it makes a great addition to any garden or flower border, and is perfect within informal gardens, prairie and meadow style gardens, and also within water/bog gardens.

Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack.
