| Ginkgo biloba - (Maidenhair Tree / Fossil Tree) |
A large deciduous tree, native to China, reaching 20 - 35 m (65 - 115 ft) tall.
Bright lime-green, 2-lobed leaves are uniquely fan-shaped, resembling the leaves of the maidenhair fern, Adiantum capillus-veneris. Leaves turn a beautiful, bright saffron-yellow during autumn before they fall.
As a species of tree it is extremely resilient, being very resistant to disease and insects — and has even adapted to many difficult growing locations, such as cliff edges and rocky slopes. So there is very good reason for this species to have survived on the planet for over 270 million years — and there are even some specimens alive today which are over 2,500 years old!
Fully hardy to -20ºC (-4ºF). Protect very young plants and seedlings from hard frosts initially.
Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack
