Dendrocalamus barbatus - (Giant Bamboo)

An extremely rare and very large, clump-forming bamboo, native to temperate Asia and China, growing up to 50 feet (15 m) in height

Clumping bamboo (non-invasive)

The culms grow to 10 cm in diameter, forming attractive clumps with lanceolate leaves.  This bamboo makes a real statement!

Shoots initially emerge orange, with culms then turning green when young, finally developing a shiny grey coat as they age

Hardy to around -4 ºC (25 ºF), sometimes colder, but the key is to keep the soil on the dry side during any frost

Bamboo seeds are not always available due to worldwide shortages of most species; this is because they rarely flower, sometimes only every 30 to even 100 years (called gregarious flowering)

Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack
