Cercis occidentalis (Western Redbud / California Redbud) |
Fresh Seeds of Cercis occidentalis (Western Redbud / California Redbud) with full instructions for germination.
A magnificent small, deciduous tree, native to California, Arizona and Utah, growing to an eventual height of between 10 - 15 ft.
This species truly offers year-round interest: Handsome, silver bark contrasts with a spectacular display of magenta flowers borne upon bare branches during spring, followed by pretty, heart-shaped leaves, which emerge bright-green, turning slowly to blue-green throughout summer, and then warm autumn hues from yellow to red until they fall in autumn.
The blossoms are highly attractive to butterflies, bees and other vital pollinators.
Fully hardy to frosts (lower than -20°C).
Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack.
