Caryota mitis 'Green' - Burmese Clustering Fishtail Palm

 

Fresh Seeds of Caryota mitis 'Green', the Burmese Clustering Fishtail Palm, with full instructions for germination.

A beautiful evergreen palm, native to tropical Asia, bearing handsome, rich-green, triangular leaflets, with panicles of cream-white to purple flowers in summer.

Makes an eye-catching and highly-ornamental houseplant or conservatory plant, outside of the tropics (frost-tender) — growing best within bright, filtered light or dappled shade — and for best foliage appearance they prefer a room with some humidity.

Slow growing, they can be kept under 6 feet within a pot — but growing within open ground within the tropics they can reach heights over 20 feet.

 GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS






 


Caryota mitis ‘Green’ 🌱 Soak seeds in warm water for 2 days. Sow 3cm deep within propagation compost. Keep compost moist at 25-30°C (77-86°F). A heated propagator is ideal. Non-heated propagators can be placed within direct sunlight in a warm room to trap in heat and humidity. Approx. germination time is from 2-3 months — but some may take longer (approx. 6 months) due to the biological clock of seed dormancy in palm seeds.
