| Acer pseudosieboldianum - (Korean Maple / Purplebloom Maple) |
A rare and very hardy maple, forming an attractive, small tree offering intense autumn colours.
Green finely-toothed leaves emerge in spring and throughout summer, followed by brilliant autumn colours, starting yellow and orange and turning intense scarlet and purples.
Erect clusters of reddish-purple flowers in spring are followed by red, winged fruit.
Size after 10 years is approx. 15-25 ft (5-8 m) tall, with a spread of 8 feet. Stays much smaller within pots, especially as a bonsai.
Fully frost hardy to -25ºC (-13ºF). Protect very young plants and seedlings from hard frosts initially.
The trees are easy to keep small (if desired) with pruning.
Makes an excellent bonsai tree as the roots are very shallow and it is easily dwarfed.
Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack.

Acer pseudosieboldianum 🌱 Soak in warm water for 2 days. Place in a zip-lock bag with lightly-moist propagation compost or vermiculite, then refrigerate for 12 weeks, opening & shaking the bag daily for aeration. Finally sow 1cm deep within propagation compost. Keep at 20°C (68°F). Maintain moisture & bright conditions until germination.
