Soil: Moist, fertile and well-drained; water well in hotter months. Avoid alkaline soils

Propagation methods: From seed, and softwood or semi-hardwood cuttings

Acer pennsylvanicum 🌱 Soak in water for 2 days. Place in a zip-lock bag with lightly-moist propagation compost or vermiculite. Keep at room temperature for 2 months, then refrigerate for further 2 months, opening & shaking bag daily for aeration. Finally sow 1cm deep within propagation compost at 20°C (68°F). Maintain moisture & bright conditions. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors within autumn, allowing frosts to break seed dormancy.
