A native to North America, Red Maples put on a spectacular show during autumn across the continent.
Growing to around 30-80 ft (10-25 m) in height (sometimes taller) the trees eventually form a beautiful, rounded shape, with younger trees starting off with a more tall and pyramidal form.
The leaves have 3 to 5 palmate-lobes with serrated margins, emerging a deep green in spring, then forming eye-catching autumn colours from burnt oranges, through to scarlet and electric purple tones.
Fully hardy to -20ºC (-4ºF). Protect very young plants and seedlings from hard frosts. initially.

| GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS |
Acer rubrum 🌱 Soak in water for 2 days. Place in a zip-lock bag with lightly-moist propagation compost or vermiculite. Keep at room temperature for 2 months, then refrigerate for further 2 months, opening & shaking bag daily for aeration. Finally sow 1cm deep within propagation compost at 20°C (68°F). Maintain moisture & bright conditions. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors within autumn, allowing frosts to break seed dormancy.
Caution: Not for consumption. Choking hazard. Keep away from children & pets. Handle with care.
