| Phyllostachys pubescens (Phyllostachys edulis) - Moso Bamboo |
A large bamboo from China with large bluish-green culms with a striking silver tint, and deep green, beautifully arching foliage. Exceptionally fast-growing within its native bamboo tree forests.
Giant, clumping bamboo (non-invasive).
Can reach up to 15-30 feet (5-10 m) within temperate Europe. Please note that within warmer regions of the world, they will eventually form some rhizome runners — and can even do so in cooler climates after they age, so tree root barriers can help keep the clumps stay more localised.
Hardy to -20ºC (-4ºF).
Bamboo seeds are not always available due to worldwide shortages of most species; this is because they rarely flower, sometimes only every 30 to even 100 years (called gregarious flowering).
Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack.
