Hypericum androsaemum (Tutsan / Sweet Amber) |
Fresh Seeds of Hypericum androsaemum (Tutsan / Sweet Amber).
Growing to around 3 ft tall, this lovely, deciduous shrub creates an elegant yet informal appearance in the garden. The leaves are long and lance-shaped, but can appear rounded.
Spring foliage is blue-green with red leaf undersides, often with red edges and taints to the leaves. During summer, dainty, golden-yellow, flowers are formed in abundance, attracting bees, butterflies and other pollinators. The vivid yellow of the flowers contrasts beautifully with the surrounding blue-green foliage, creating a stunning and cheerful display.
Green berries mature to pink or red, and finally purple or black. These ornamental berries persist into late autumn, extending the shrub's aesthetic interest long after the flowering season — along with displaying beautiful, warm autumn colours on the foliage before winter.
Grows well within any reasonable soil in sun or shade. Fully frost hardy to -20ºC.
Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack.
