Rhapis excelsa (Bamboo Broadleaf Lady Palm)

Fresh Seeds of Rhapis excelsa (Bamboo Lady Palm) with full instructions for germination.

An elegant, small, evergreen palm, native to China and Vietnam, with long-stalked, handsomedark-green, architectural foliage divided into narrow lobes, held on slender, cane-like stems. Panicles of tiny yellow flowers are borne among the leaves in summer.

Makes an eye-catching and highly-ornamental houseplant or conservatory plant, outside of the tropics (frost-tender) — growing best within bright, filtered light or dappled shade — and for best foliage appearance they prefer a room with some humidity.

Slow growing, they can be kept under 6 feet within a pot, growing naturally to around 12 feet within open ground.

Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack.

 GROWING DETAILS

Genus: Rhapis

Species: excelsa

English Name: Bamboo Palm / Broadleaf Lady Palm

Plant type: Evergreen palm

Hardiness: Frost tender

Eventual height: Up to 6 ft potted; 12 ft within open ground

Sun Exposure: Prefers filtered bright light or dappled shaped

Soil: Moist, fertile and well-drained. Water well during warmer seasons; sparingly during winter

Propagation methods: Seeds

 GERMINATION INSTRUCTIONS

Rhapis excelsa 🌱 Soak seeds in warm water for 2 days (change water after 24 hours). Sow seeds 2cm deep within propagation compost. Keep compost evenly moist at all times at 25°C (77°F). A heated propagator is ideal. Non-heated propagators can be placed within direct sunlight in a warm room to trap in heat and humidity. Approx. germination time is from 2-3 months — but some may take longer (approx. 6 months) due to the biological clock of seed dormancy within most palm seeds.

Caution: Not for consumption. Choking hazard. Keep away from children & pets. Handle with care.
