Cephalostachyum pergracile - Tinwa Bamboo

An extremely rare giant bamboo, similar to Dendrocalamus grandis in appearance, and also native to Eastern Asia.  An upright and bushy, evergreen bamboo, growing to around 30-100 feet in height within its native provenance, it will typically reach around 15-20 feet tall within temperate Europe

Clumping bamboo (non-invasive)

These handsome bamboos have metallic-blue or blue-green culms (eventually 2 inches in diameter) with attractively contrasting orange-red peeling layers. The internodes are typically around 30cm long

Hardy to around -2ºC to -3ºC (27 to 28ºF), but the key is to keep the soil on the dry side during any frost. Protect any bamboos under the age of 2-3 years old from any frost using sheeting or a horticultural fleece

Within its native range, Tinwa Bamboo is harvested for its strong canes, which are used frequently in the construction of buildings

Bamboo seeds are not always available due to worldwide shortages of most species; this is because they rarely flower, sometimes only every 30 to even 100 years (called gregarious flowering)

Please note: full germination instructions are printed on each pack
